Larry,

  You have already seen quite a few good suggestions, but I
  thought I would give you one more.  It is not nearly as easy 
  as some of the packages mentioned, but it does work!  I'm
  not sure it would work for a PDF attachment though as I have
  only done text attachments with this method. 

  Anyway, you can build your own mime email message packet and
  send it to your SMTP server for processing.  Here is a sample
  CMS file that will send an email with an attachment.
