Another item to check off the list. One of the things I really like about the listservs, not only getting to the meat of a problem, but the discussion of the frills that are around the problem.
Like, switching hardware might also cause a switch in operating systems, even though you IPL the same disk. Or causing a switch from basic mode to LPAR mode. With my z/890, I've only lost 768MB to control storage, up from 87 MB on my MP3000/H30. What is the minimum you loose with a z/9? Or migrating an upsupported Operating System. I did expect that there wouldn't be much problems with z/VM 4.4 on the z9. Just get the current APARs for EREP, IOCP, and ICKDSF and it should run fine. Thank you all for the input. Sounds like we can run zVM 4.4 on the z9 - no problem. I used Q CPLEVEL and it shows us running 64 bit: q cplevel z/VM Version 4 Release 4.0, service level 0403 (64-bit) Generated at 01/12/2006 15:50:57 CDT IPL at 01/15/2006 20:09:16 CDT So, the 64 vs 31 bit possible problems is not an issue either. prg Phillip Gramly Systems Programmer Communications Data Group Champaign, IL
