The extension is supposed to place that disk in search below the other
in search order not in placement. Example 191 A; 192 B; 193 C: would
search A then B then C. Extension would be 191 A; 192 B; 193 C/A: would
search A then C then B. Does that help?

Subject: ACCESS /extension

The CMS ACCESS command, takes a /extension argument for making a disk a
read-only extension of another.

I've never understood this, and have only used it when I wish to make a
disk r/o. I certainly does not work for making a disk appear elsewhere
in the CMS search order, which is what I would really like it to do
(when I have to squeeze a disk in where there isn't a hole).

Can anyone explain what the "extension of another" means in this
context?
