Jim, I don't have SPEDIT here and it has been a few years since I have used it and that was probably on a VM/ESA system, but I am sure I could look at spool files that were in the 'create' state. I don't remember about viewing a file that is already being viewed by someone else. If I remember right you needed to do something slightly different to see the open spools. I sure do wish I still had that product, I miss it. Tom

But if someone already has the spool file open in SPEDIT it is not available or seen in the spool queues. The SPEDIT transfers the spool file to the requestor's reader and transfers the spool file back when the requestor exits the view. If the spool file is actively being created I cannot see it. DAVE's words about TRANSFER brings some memories back: You also might want to have a look at my URLIST package: it shows the RDR/PUN/PRT queue of other users in an RDRLIST-like way. It provides a PEEK command, but that PEEK will involve a TRANSFER of the file to your RDR-queue, PEEK, and TRANSFER back.
