Depending on what options your site chooses to use (PerfKit, Dirmaint, RACF, etc.) configuring z/VM 5.3 can take a lot more time than the installation step.

Does anyone know if they have updated the z/VM cookbook for 5.3 yet?
I assume you mean "The Virtualization Cookbook". Not yet. I installed 5.3 using the 5.2 recipes and the two are almost identical. We do hope to get both the latest books for SLES 10 and RHEL 5 on linuxvm.org/present converted back into Redbooks this year (but this is not certain). If that happens they will be updated for z/VM 5.3.

That is one really fine redbook.
Thanks!

I got 5.3 installed today! Not configured yet, but it *is* installed.
Very good.

Funny story about booting DVD?s from the HMC goes with that, but I think
I will wait to share it until after the pain goes away. :)
Please do tell (when the pain goes away :)).
