For all the pain of the increase in memory footprint, I have to say that the use of BFS sockets and other C code is a GOOD THING. I don't know how much Endicott is able to leverage from POK and other places, but I am sure it is greater than zero.
Using work done by the other platform teams is a big boost to CMS, and relief on the VM team. By coincidence or design, use of the C sourced network code is huge: Brings CMS clients up to date. And not having OpenVM sockets break when doing Unix-like things is tremendous. This is all good. -- R;
