Would appreciate it very much... Have been looking at 'options' since
HIPAA was introduced to the Hospital. Run z/VM and VSE on a z890
mainframe and rotate a hundred tapes or so offsite daily for Disaster
Recovery.
Thanks in advance...

Subject: Re: TS1120 Encrypting Tape Drives

We have had them for a couple of months now and have just started the
testing using them for encryption.

We are using them under zOS however. I'm just lurking here in the zVM
mailing list to see what I can pick up.

If you need some of my war stories getting them to encrypt data under
zOS let me know.

I can send you a very high level overview I wrotw for my department if
you want. Just send me your email address.

Apparently a set of TS1120 Encrypting Tape Drives are circling the
Washington Beltway waiting for landing instructions.

Has any non-IBM Internal site actually begun using these drives? Are you
using a Tape Management product? Are you using a Backup&Restore product?
Are those of you who are not using any ISV products willing to discuss
your tape/backup management procedures?
