It seems I started a worthwhile discussion with my posting :-) I would like to see the directory as secure as possible after having sat in a 2 hour meeting (more of a grilling) with my IT auditors before I received approval to move forward with z/VM to support virtualized Linux servers. And that 2 hours was just about z/VM - the Linux audit is being addressed separately. Not only do I have to deal with SOX but I also have to deal with HIPAA requirements.
I understand that some shops will not have an ESM and perhaps not even a directory manager other than XEdit so it would be helpful for IBM to provide a menu of options during the install to simplify this for the customer (especially the new z/VM shop using it solely to support Linux virtualization).
