Your scenario is correct.

RSCS receives the request from RSCSAUTH.
RSCSAUTH is not hung in a CP READ.
RSCS is running disconnected.

I have more questions than an answer here.

I assume you have something like this:
        You are logged onto RSCSAUTH:
                TEST1 issues SM RSCSAUTH Q SY L
TEST1 receives the response through RSCSAUTH from RSCS
        You DISC from RSCSAUTH
TEST1 issues the SM RSCSAUTH Q SY L
                No response

Does RSCS receive the request from RSCSAUTH?
Is RSCSAUTH hung in a CP READ?
Is RSCS actually running DSC? Or is it logged off?

Subject: RSCSAUTH

I am working with a newly installed z/VM 5.3.0 system, and I am trying
to get RSCSAUTH working. It seems to work fine delivering responses to
the test user when I am logged on as RSCSAUTH, but as soon as I
disconnect from RSCSAUTH, I get no responses on the test user.

Obviously I am doing something wrong, but I can't see what it is. Can
anyone help?

Peter
