Hi, Tom.

z/CMS is IBM's experimental 64-bit CMS. While CMS does not exploit the 64-bit environment, it does support applications that do. z/CMS does not directly exploit storage above 2G. On z/VM 5.3 it can be IPLed in a virtual machine with more than 2G of storage and application programs can use subpool DMSUSERG to allocate storage above 2G. Applications can enter AMODE 64, the high order contents of the 64 bit general purpose registers are saved and restored across interrupts and are mode available to interrupt handling interfaces. However, z/CMS can not be IPL-ed in an XC mode virtual machine, so no support for things like data spaces.

Just a question of courisoty.
I'm working on installing z/VM 5.3 and besides the familiar CMS NSS I see
ZCMS NSS.
I haven't seen any reference to Z/CMS before I can IPL it but I see the
maint level is 000. CMS is 702.
Just courious. Tom _____
