Hello Richard and Alan,

Thanks for the info. I have been using Ca-CDTAPE but I think it is
read only.

Ed,

There are at least two forms of VTAPE. IBM has a VTS that is comprised
of both DASD and tape. You read/write what you think is a tape. The data
can come from either tape or dasd, depending on where it is stored by
the VTS unit. This involves the purchase of hardware.

The other is a program product that was initially developed by VSSI for
TPF, but useful in any shop that writes many small tapes. It maintains a
VTAPE library on DASD that you provide. There is no backing tape. You
define a v3490 or other virtual tape device and use normal tape I/O to
access it. With this product, the tape I/O is simulated. There is no
hardware other than the space on DASD that is allocated to the library.

        Hello Everyone,

Is there a VTAPE function supplied from IBM for z/VM?
