In the planning manual, there is a note about specifying PARM AUTOLOG on the IPL statement in the RSCS directory entry that says, "Required if GCS is autologged." This is a bit ambiguous. GCS is autologged, but after the system has been up for a bit, if you try to execute the command CP IPL GCS PARM AUTOLOG on the machine (after all, GCS was autologged, just not immediately before RSCS was recycled), RSCS fails to start.
