Can't say, but try:
QUEUE "cd 'FY Year End Closing\SallieMae' "
That is, put the subdirectory in apostrophes.

Subject: VM FTP Question
Good morning all,
I am trying to FTP a file from VM to Windoze. Server. But it
appears that VM/FTP will not switch to a directory on windoze that
contains spaces. Is there some command I am missing or is it just not
possible with VM/FTP?
/* */
'ID (STACK LIFO'
pull user . . . . date time zone day .
parse var date yy '-' mm '-' dd
parse var time hh ':' mi ':' ss
fta = (yy)(mm)(dd)(hh)(mi)
putcmd = 'put salmae.data.j salmae'||fta||'.txt'
say putcmd
'MAKEBUF'
'CP LINK TCPMAINT 592 FFF RR ALL'
'ACCESS FFF X'
QUEUE 'iuserid passwd'
QUEUE 'cd FY Year End Closing\SallieMae'
QUEUE 'dir'
QUEUE putcmd
QUEUE 'quit'
'FTP 172.xxx.xxx.yyy (exit'
'RELEASE X (DET'
'DROPBUF'
EXIT
