With the amount of back-porting that SUSE and Red Hat do, let alone what the IBM Linux developers do, the kernel level is a very tenuous indication of what capabilities are available in any given kernel. I hate to say it (because I know extremely few people that do it), but the release notes for what ever major maintenance update you're at would be the best place to look, unless you're into dissecting source code updates.
