This is the right approach, closing the gate will make starmon
terminate. I expect that maybe your REXX stage does not propate EOF
forward. You might want to add a
  \ immcmd j | jeremy | cons

and when you expect the pipe to have terminated, use the 'j' to have
jeremy show you which stage is still sitting there. Alternatively, the
LISTRC option is useful to show when stages terminate.
