Not positive (rusty memory) but try:

  DIRM DELETE userid clean/noclean

The default for [no]clear is in one of the config files. I forget which
one.

Yes, Dirmaint is good at that.  :-)

BTW: I don't want to disparage Kris's swiss army knife dirmaint exec.
Its a nice hunk of code and is useful.  However IMHO, before depending
on such a tool, you should have some idea of the basic commands so you
can tell whats going on under the covers.
