:-)  I think you'll find that z/VM, z/OS, and z/VSE all currently share 
the same Architectural Level Set (ALS).  The ALS defines the lowest level 
of processor that the operating system will support (run on).  Right now, 
we all have z/Architecture as the only requirement.  While we can (and do) 
exploit the latest & greatest, we must tolerate a system as old as z900.
