SCIDS is the (good) old name for SHARE's currently (and boringly) named "evening receptions". IIRC, it stood for Social Conversations Informal Discussion Session, but more than one member "hit the SCIDS" after imbibing too much of the then-free alcoholic beverages.
The folklore expansion of the acronym I know is : Serious Consumption of Intoxicating Drinks Socially. Used to be the case, too.
