Duane,
Add some device definitions in your 2nd level SYSTEM CONFIG, like this:
Rdevice 01A0-01BF Type 3270_Display
Without them, 2nd level CP will only detect consoles at IPL time if you
have one attached or dedicated. Dialed devices get reset when the guest
IPL's, so you can't DIAL and then IPL.

trouble I'd have a rifle."

Subject: [IBMVM] dial to 2nd level vm?
IF you recall, I asked about running a 2nd level VM recently. The
2nd level VM came up with no problem.
The 2nd level VM is a 5.3 system, which uses a VSWITCH. Someone
responded that the 1st level VM 5.2 system did not need to run a
switch. However the VSWITCH in the 2nd level did require additional
OSA Ports since the switch is defined to a rdev of a port address. I
was not expecting that.
However, we are not able to DIAL to it. I put in some SPECIAL
statements in definition within USER DIRECT which were of no help. I
thinking there might be something on 2nd level VM system that needs
to be changed or turned on. Suggestions?
Thanks,
Duane
