Hi Mike,
I followed the directions in the "SuSE Linux Enterprise Server Starter System for System Z: Installation Guide" for NOVSTART which came up fine and then began the "full-service Server" (CLIENT) from the Starter System. When I got the message run 'yast' to start the installation, I looked in the "Virtualization Cookbook..." to begin the YAST install for my "full-service Server" and/or the "goldenimage". Page 29 of the Starter Systems says to use the following for the "CLIENT": * MDISK 0191 3390 0001 0005 USER03 08290953 * MDISK 0150 3390 0006 0050 USER03 08290953 * MDISK 0151 3390 0056 3283 USER03 08290953 * MDISK 0152 3390 0001 3338 USER04 Do I need to the follow the setup in the Virtualization Cookbook for SLES10S2 instead? Thanks again for your support, Alyce ________________________________ From: The IBM z/VM Operating System [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Michael MacIsaac Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 11:57 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: YAST Alyce, > ON P. 121 (STEP 15) OF THE "VIRTUALIZATION COOKBOOK FOR > SLES 10 SP2, IT SAYS TO CREATE A SECOND PARTITION, > CLICK CREATE AND CHOOSE /DEV/DASDA AGAIN... > WHEN I DO THAT, IT SAYS THAT IT CANNOT BE PARTITIONED. Hmm, perhaps there is no space left. > IN A STEP 14, IT SAYS TO CHOOSE A SIZE OF 384MB FOR DASDA; HOWEVER > IT WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE SIZE, BUT I REPLY "YES" ANYWAY... So this tells me the real problem is here. What is the error/warning message when you say "it was not happy". Are you sure that minidisk 100 is 3338 (or more) cylinders? From the console session, what is the output of "#CP Q V 100" (or "#CP Q 100" if that doesn't work)? "Mike MacIsaac" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> (845) 433-7061
