Better still, create a VMBACKUP DIRECT file matching the doc on your a-disk. (Or MAINT, or VMRMAINT, wherever you're working - which should be a userid with dirmaint auths.) You can either leave out the mdisk statements as Dennis suggests, or modify them as follows: where you have MDISK ccuu 3390 startcyl nbrcyls volser .... use AMDISK ccuu 3390 AUTOG nbrcyls volgroup .... where volgroup is an allocation group defined in dirmaint's extent control file. Then do a "dirm add vmbackup"

Then use DIRM AMDISK to add the minidisks. I haven't used DIRMAINT in several years, so I might be slightly off on the details. Dennis O'Brien We are Borg of America. You will be assimilated. From: The IBM z/VM Operating System [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Dave Keeton Sent: Wednesday, October 15, 2008 15:39 To: [email protected] Subject: [IBMVM] DirMaint & CA's VM:Backup Software Installation I am attempting to install VM:Backup from CA and it wants me to update the directory with the user info for VMBACKUP. Trouble is, I'm using DirMaint and I can't seem to figure out how to manually add the user as the installation program has spelled out the entry for me. Can I update the USER DIRECT file and then get DirMaint to re-read it? Can I tell DirMaint to manually accept the user info? What's the best way to approach this? The VMIMAINT installation program lets me pick the volume on which to create the minidisks, but DirMaint would be using the EXTENT CONTROL definition instead of specific cylinders on a volume. Not sure how to proceed.... Thanks in advance, Dave
