Here is the problem, Fran: We are an outsourcer; the RSCS network "belongs" to us; the TCP-attached network does NOT belong to us - it belongs to the client. And various auditing and security requirements must keep those separate.
I guess it is possible to set up a "separate" RSCS server for the client, but why should I need to, just so that some programmers can print their programs off? It seems an awful waste, since LPR does the trick perfectly - unless the file is large. And, after all, that is what it is there for! :) David Wakser -----Original Message----- From: The IBM z/VM Operating System [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Fran Hensler Sent: Thursday, October 16, 2008 7:05 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: LPR from z/VM David - I would reecommend that you quit using the LPR command and set up you printers using the free LPR feature in RSCS. It's a little work to set it up but it is sweet to use. /Fran Hensler at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania USA for 45 years mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://zvm.sru.edu/~fjh +1.724.738.2153 "Yes, Virginia, there is a Slippery Rock" ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- On Thu, 16 Oct 2008 15:42:03 -0700 Wakser, David said: >All: > > I believe I had this problem before, but I was probably distracted and >never pursued it. > > When I issue a CMS LPR command on a plain-text CMS file (using the >following in an EXEC), it works fine.
