z/VM 4.4.0 was the last release where JAVA was available for VM. We actually got to a roughly JDK 1.1.6 level before discontinuing support. If you still have a z/VM 4.4.0 system and you want to attempt moving the
JAVA code from there to a more recent z/VM 5.x system, the code should continue to run, albeit, in an unsupported fashion. IIRC, there was a problem running the JIT on z/VM 5.1.0 or later. As was mentioned several times earlier, if you want JAVA support "on VM", you should install a Linux guest and use the up-to-date levels on there. Mike Donovan
