We have a RACF database that used to be shared between z/OS & VM but, for various reasons, this got split just over a year ago.
We have now run into a new problem and I need to understand why so that I can formulate a solution :- - There are VM userids, that never log on to z/OS (they functional LOGONBY userids on VM), that submit jobs to MVS. - At the weekend we had the jobs from 2 of these fail because the userid was revoked in the z/OS RACF database. - This seems fair enough - except that I would have expected this to happen a long time ago if it was going to. - The inactive interval is set to 60. What I don't know is exactly what causes the userid to get REVOKED in RACF on z/OS but my supposition is :- - If the user does not attempt to log on to TSO (or user one of the password protected TCPIP functions) there will be no requirement to change password for just job submission. - A job submission will reset the inactivity timeout start point. - A user will become REVOKED if there is longer than 60 days between jobs submitted to z/OS (and no other activity). I have worked this out from what appears to have happened, - but is this understanding correct? It could have an influence on how we go about resolving this issue.
