Nor on our z/VM 5.1 and z/VM 5.4 systems (note the lower-case cp q
cplevel):
---<snip>--
q cplevel
z/VM Version 5 Release 1.0, service level 0501 (64-bit)
Generated at 09/04/08 16:26:13 CST
IPL at 11/16/08 20:54:17 CST

cp q cplevel
z/VM Version 5 Release 4.0, service level 0801 (64-bit)
Generated at 08/04/08 16:27:40 CST
IPL at 11/02/08 07:23:23 CST
---<snip>---

Even if you had a "Q EXEC", the input redisplay would not be uppercased.
Are you running some shell exec that accepts commands, redisplays them
(uppercased) and then executes them?
