Yes, sorry, I am using "partition" and "guest" interchangeably, which I know isn't accurate. We currently have no shared DASD, with the exception of a single pack that a previous systems programmer set up.
So yes, I have four guests on a single z9 under z/VM of which I would like to share most of the DASD. You say 'partition' but from the rest of your description it appears you have guests on z/VM running with z/OS, correct? And your earlier reference to "connect VM's" actually meant to connect guests rather than z/VM systems? If so, and if the DASD is not shared beyond this (so only among the guests) then z/VM can simulate the reserve/release process by virtual reserve/release (which does not involve the DASD subsystem). But you must already be using that or your reserve/release would not do anything and your data would be corrupted by now... Rob -- Rob van der Heij Velocity Software http://www.velocitysoftware.com/
