Well the other reason is that IBM shows our IFL using 100% of the MIPS and I 
don't believe that is correct.  We rarely go above 35% processor utilization.   
 However, Barton's response may have cleared up why that is the case...
 
Yes,  I put the 70's and 72's through their cp3000 extract program and produced 
a file for them.  I was surprised that the z/vm IFL info was even included.

Anne,

I'm assuming you're referring to LPAR utilization data, which is contained
within MF Type 70 records. These are collected for every LPAR on the box,
whether z/OS, coupling facility LPARs, IFLs, zIIPS, zAAPs, etc.

Recently sent a tape of SMF data from our machine to IBM for analysis.
We have two LPARs (z/os) and an IFL (z/vm).
SMF recording on z/os is straight forward.  Man files are dumped to the
tape from my two lpars when full...
IBM provided usage information on our IFL from this tape and I'm not sure
how they did that.
How did information from z/vm on the IFL get on the SMF tapes created on
z/os?
