Don't copy anything. Release and DETACH. 1. CP SMSG RACFVM SMF SWITCH. RACF will start using the secondary disk and will XAUTOLOG RACFSMF. 2. Wait for RACFSMF to finish (he'll logoff) 3. Update directory entry *only* for the primary disk 4. SMF SWITCH. RACFVM will re-LINK the primary disk, getting the new MDISK. 5. Wait for RACFSMF to finish. 6. Update the directory for the secondary disk. No need to SWITCH again. How big are you making them? Maybe you just need to autolog RACFSMF more often or increase the archive frequency? Recall that (per the Program Directory) you added some system automation to autolog RACFSMF every day. You also updated RACFSMF's PROFILE EXEC to indicate how often you want it to switch and archive. If that mechanism isn't working, then your SMF disks will fill up and logging will stop. And if you have, in the name of national security, used the SEVER keyword in SMF CONTROL, RACF will fail any request it would have to audit (e.g. user LOGON).
