I think I know the answer but.....

We are getting hit with some sort of new law, that was suppose to go in effect
Nov 1, we found out about it Jan 2, but is now delayed until May 1. Doesn't
matter anyway, as we can't comply by then anyway <G>.

It's about sealing up the data transmission and storage from any Identity
Thief.

And, to that end, we are in the process of offering Identity Thief insurance
for employees. And now comes the insurance company wanting things tighten up.

This is in the very early stages, and, initially, we will let the 390 and IFL
processor handle the encryption tasks. I don't know but at some time,
encryption processing could end up justifying its own engine.

Can an encryption processor be shared between a 390 LPAR and an IFL LPAR? I
think not, but there is word that, in the future, we will be able to mix
processors in the same IFL, but no date has been set to my knowledge.

We are trying to build a case for upgrading to a z10 BC this year. Extra
speciality engines are fairly cheap.

We are mostly a VSE shop (and will be near current by time anything happens),
with Suse making greater and greater strides.

In the last 6-8 months, it seems that the listservs have been taken over by SSL
questions, SFTP questions, VPN questions, etc. I guess it may be time to go
back to the archives and see what problems/concerns others have had.
