Hi, Augie.
According to the IBM z/VM 5.4 TCP/IP Messages and Codes
manual (online edition available here:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/HCSK4B31/CCONTENTS?SHELF=hcsh2aa1&DN=GC24-6124-04&DT=20081125150345)
, the E080 return code signifies:
A LAN connection could not be made, possibly for one of the
following reasons:
* The cable might not be present.
* The LAN might not be functioning.
* The port might have been disabled.
Have you verified that the OSA card is enabled, and has a
cable plugged into?
Hope this helps.
DJ
