The TS1120 does not provide full librarian functionality therefore the Removable Media Services (RMS) component of DFSMS/VM does not support this device. If you were using a tape librarian product, then APAR VM64062 would indeed be required in order for z/VSE guests to exploit drives that are encrypt capable.
