Like DASD, this is another area where the present is way different from
the past :)
We've had a lot of success with the ESPs. 
I'm know a few others here have too.

Done that.  Been there.  Unless you like arrows in your back for being a
pioneer and/or if you have a not very critical system you could put
Early Ship code on, I'd stay away.
