Thanks to all for the information. Just to let you know, I am still
working on this and want to be sure that I know what and how I need to fi
x
before I try to start fixing.
I have learned a lot of useful information - commands, techniques -- from

you all and I really want to work through this so I can become a better

bear. I thank you for your patience.
Ron, you mentioned changing the DEFAULTS for 3390. I thought about doing

that after I discovered my problem, but I hesitated about it since the

system itself seems to use this so I was not sure it was a good idea. Yo
u
pointed out that when you merged companies you ran into a problem with it
,
too.
Unfortunate that the $xxxx$ defined in the base use END on the MDISK
definitions which can only be defined as 3390. This seems a shortcoming

when the actual DASD used is not interrogated for its specifications.
Maybe what got me into the mess to begin with? have not determined that

yet.
