So I thought I'd complete the circle, or something. IBM folk saw this post and got into contact with me without further ado. They gave me the broad strokes of the proper way to unpickle myself. I appreciated it very much. In a nutshell, here are the salient points. #1 Leave the RESTART alone. D o *NOT* delete it, do not monkey with it. You want this to complete normall y. #2 Order the COR service you need to do the restart with prereqs back to your current level. #3 Apply the service you just got using VMFSETUP to l ink everything, and VMFREC to apply. #4 Run the needed SERVICE RESTART comman d to complete the original service. #5 is optional, in my case I had to recycle #2 - #4 again to get the ones I missed. #6 Apply the RSU. #7 Smil e and go home happy. And PUT2PROD. In a thumbnail sketch. Cheers.
