Does IBM Communications Server run on these other flavors of Linux as
well?  Is it supported under these as well?

You're correct.  There aren't any no-cost versions of SUSE available
that will run on mainframes.  Thomas was referring to things such as
Debian/390, Slack/390, CentOS, Gentoo, and Fedora.
