When I have to do column oriented editing, I use an xedit macro call
COLEDIT. I do not remember where I got it but the file lists the author
as being: Linda Littleton <l...@psuvm> 08/30/88
It works great for rearranging cols of data and interspersing new literals.
COLEDIT -- Provides horizontal "prefix area" for editing columns.
For more information, see HELP COLEDIT.
D Deletes columns.
I text Inserts text.
R text Replaces columns with this text.
O text Overlays columns with this text.
" Duplicates columns.
C Copies columns.
M Moves columns.
F Columns copied or moved Follow this column.
P Columns copied or moved Precede this column.
B Adds blank columns.
U Converts text to uppercase.
L Converts text to lowercase.
AL Aligns text to the left.
AR Aligns text to the right.
> Sorts lines in ascending order.
< Sorts lines in descending order.
V Does the XEDIT VERIFY setting.
H Does the XEDIT VERIFY HEX setting.
Z Does the XEDIT ZONE setting.
| Does the XEDIT TRUNC setting.
; Sets TABS.
Let me know if anyone wants a copy of this.
