We have both a system Profile Xedit and user ones. Both set different
defaults for different file types. The original came from IBM on a
release of VM in the 80's, and I created my version in 1989. Now I tend
to favour LEXX.

Mike,

I have been creating my own "XEDIT" on any CMS userid I use, for so
long,
that is almost the first thing I do when I encounter a new System

It is annoying when you go to a NEW place and it is not set up
"properly"

And now we get to argue about the rest of "properly":

SET CASE MIXED IGNORE
SET NUMBER ON
SET PREFIX NULLS
SET NULLS ON
SET SCALE OFF
SET MSGLINE ON 2 23 OVERLAY

I think that's the minimum I can live with. :-)
