If you do UPDATE in XEDIT, you may want to look at BASEFT as well... My profile uses a separate config file that holds the per-filetype settings (things like CASE, RECFM, TRUNC and even PF-keys and prefix synonyms). But my most valuable feature in the profile xedit is that I restore file and cursor position upon entry. A macro on PF3 for exit keeps the file/cursor per file in globalv, the profile retrieves those again. Combined with CMS PF3 being "edit last file" that's very handy.. -Rob
