There is a way, however. If it is important that the user be able to log
on immediately, you can turn logon journaling off and then back on (SET
JOURNAL command.) This will wipe out any current journal counts for
everybody and start counting from 0.

        Hi Ann,

This behaviour is defined in your SYSTEM CONFIG file in the
'Journaling Information' section. Here is ours:

        Journaling ,

          Facility On ,

          Set_and_Query Off ,

          Logon ,

Lockout after 10 attempts for 60 minutes ,

             Account after 0 attempts ,

Message after 10 attempts to OPERATOR ,

             VM_Logo after 5 attempts ,

          Link ,

             Account after 0 attempts ,

Message after 0 attempts to Operator ,

             Disable after 10 attempts

Once a user has reached the logon lockout limit, I know of no
way to reset the user. They must not attempt to logon for 60 minutes, or
else the timer starts again.

        Peter

On a test system with zVM 5.3 someone tried to logon with
incorrect password more than the allowed 5 times. Does anyone know where
the 60 minutes or other value is set to allow the user to logon again ?

HCP780E (XAUTOLOG failed for userid -) Maximum password
attempts exceeded, ,
                  try again later.
,

,
Explanation: You attempted to logon using LOGON, AUTOLOG or
XAUTOLOG with an ,
incorrect password more times than the system permits. For
security reasons, ,
the system will not allow you to logon until a waiting period
has passed. ,

,
System Action: When the number of unsuccessful logon attempts
exceeds the ,
limit of ten (or the limit defined by the system administrator),
the system ,
issues this message and denies further logon attempts for 60
minutes (or for a,
period of time defined by the system administrator).
,

,
User Response: Try to logon again later with the correct
password. If you do ,
not know your password, contact your system administrator for
assistance. ,
