The cbu is turned on via the HMC (I think). When you're done, you turn it off
and the machine goes back to normal state. We've done this a few times and
production VM stays up, doesn't hick-up or anything. Same thing for when we
turn it off.
That's how it works for us. YMMV

Subject: how is the machine capacity resetted to normal state after activation
of cbu record

cross-posted to zVM and zOS

Hello listers,

in two weeks my customer (zVM / zVSE) wants to do a disaster recovery test at
his 2nd location. Therefore we will activate the cbu record and upgrade the
machine from model 2098-a01 to a z02 with 1 IFL. After the test how is the
machine downgraded to a a01. Will it be done automatically or must it be done
again with perform model conversion?

Does anybody have experiences with this scenario and can give me any hints how
the capacity is reset after the test?

Thanks in advance
