Prefetch Data is used in the virtual switch to help improve the 
performance of guest-guest traffic.

But don't get too hung up on it.  The point is that it was necessary to 
perform an architectural level set (ALS) and all that remained was to 
choose the specific platform.   z/VM 6.1 doesn't have much that z/VM 5.4 
doesn't, and isn't in itself a justification for z10+.  So those with a z9 
are not out in the cold.  It is simply a signal that future Good Stuff 
will need a z10 or better.
