Description of Specific Required Business Function:
The candidate must be heavy background in CP, CMS, z/Linux, VM system
center products, performance management and tuning, mainframe
hardware, guest operating system support, on the IBM mainframe
platforms. This position is key to developing the engineering
solutions and long term future direction plans of the technology
roadmap for zLinux platforms. The engineer will be responsible to
develop zLinux solutions and develop actionable plans to execute our
go forward strategy, or promote standardization and simplification.
The candidate would bring leading industry best practices and have
professional verbal and written communication skills

Complete Description:
Project deliverables will include technical architecture, solution
testing, analysis, and implementation. The engineer will provide
additional expertise to the in-house mainframe zLinux Infrastructure
teams, expand their capacity to do projects, and cross-train them on
all technical aspects of all new project processes. This position may
be responsible for partnering with various lines of business to offer
solutions that solve business problems and enable the enterprise to
gain a competitive advantage. Interfacing with users, management,
customers, and other IT Engineers is critical to success. Additionally
these support personnel may be responsible for managing medium level
projects.

The candidate needs to have experience in the z/VM operating system
internal setup and configurations. The engineer needs to be able to
evaluate the current environments and make recommendations to change.
The candidate will serve as an expert in hardware/software systems
engineering. Undertakes complex projects requiring additional
specialized technical knowledge. Makes well-thought-out decisions on
complex or ambiguous hardware/software systems engineering issues.
Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and
monitored to increase efficiency. Designs, develops, tests, debugs and
implements the most complex hardware/software components, tools, and
utilities. Establishes and communicates common goal and direction for
team. Acts as a mentor, providing training and guidance for less
experienced staff.

Required skills:
- Z/VM system Installation and maintenance (cp and cms)
- Program Products install and maintenance
- Performance Management Hardware Upgrade Mainframe network support
(VTAM & TCP/IP)
- Build and Customize z/Linux Distribution
- Apply patches z/Linux System Administration
- Product Support on z/Linux actual installation experience and
support of a zVM operating system. Lead at least 1 complete evolution
upgrade.

software/hardware systems.

6. Provides consultation and technical expertise to senior management
on the most complex systems integration, compatibility, expandability,
ease of use, and multiple platform issues as they relate to
hardware/software.

7. Plans and conducts the most complex software/hardware product
evaluations; develops and recommends technical strategies and
solutions to senior management. Leads in assessments of risk, cost,

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information
systems, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Knowledge: Proven knowledge in advanced operating and personal
computer systems. Must have an in-depth understanding in multiple
hardware and software platforms, products and applications. Proven
knowledge in technical diagnostic and analytical tools. Demonstrated
knowledge of project management concepts and techniques required.
Thoroughly understands incident and problem management processes.

Certification/Designation: Certification designation in Project
Management or specific technology is strongly preferred.

Experience: Eight years of technical software and hardware
development, installation, or operational support. Three years of
project management experience is preferred.
