The best way to deal with such questions (IMO) is to open a PMR and ask
for a pointer to the documentation to perform a configuration backup
("It's not in the help index."). You will either be told where it is, in
which case you ask for new index entry (fixing the problem into the
future), or you will be told that it cannot be done. If it goes down the
latter path, then you can get into a discussion on "why not?", resulting
in either your agreement or a new Requirement. If you agree, then you may
still find value in a Help update so that others will know that a backup
isn't necessary because of blah blah blah.
