In terms of performance, here are the key factors between Dedicated and Minidisks: 1. Dedicated DASD is not eligible for MDC, while minidisks (full pack and partial pack) are eligible. 2. Some hardware Storage Servers do not handle the I/Os that CP generates for partial, and in some cases, fullpack minidisks as efficiently as they do the I/O from Dedicated DASD. 3. There is a slight savings in pathlength for CCW translation as CP does not have to check cylinder values.
