If the performance penalty with GBK enabled is noticeable, it should be  
disabled by
default of course.  But in this case, maybe another bug report about why  
performance
is bad when GBK is enabled would be issued ...  For my personal experience,  
however,
the performance has no obvious degradation if GBK is enabled in fact.  For  
better
user experience, I hope GBK is enabled because I don't believe GB2312 is  
enough in
daily use.
The reason why I issue the report is that the Debian maintainer for ibus  
refuses to
enable it without you, the upstream developer, agreeing on it.  More  
importantly, he
also refuses to mention the problem in document README.Debian.
Anyway, it is your right to make such a decision.  Maybe mentioning the  
existence of
GBK support in README is enough?  I just wish novice users have better  
experience
without having to check every available options of such a daily-used ime  
software.
