Hi Shawn, Regarding whether or not to translate the list of candidate words, I would think that if it's possible, it would be good to do. Although many people who can read traditional characters can also understand simplified, I think that is not always the case. Students who learn Chinese as a second language, for example, and are taught traditional Chinese may have a very difficult time using the input if they must recognize simplified characters in order to write traditional characters. In either case though I will be very excited just to be able to enter traditional characters using ibus! I've been waiting for many years to have as excellent an input method for working with pinyin.
