Comment #13 on issue 318 by shintyakov: Using different trigger keys for
each language engines.
http://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=318
I would really appreciate if there would be possible to set separate
shortcut for
each input engine.
I am using 3 input methods dayly: default English, Russian and Japanese.
Both in SCIM
and under Windows, it is possible to have separate shortcuts for each
language, and
switching between them is very simple.
Particularly, I am using the following shortcuts:
- Alt+1 to turn English
- Alt+2 to turn Russian
- Alt+3 for Japanese.
That's very convenient, because you do not need to think every time, how
many times
you need to press the engine switch key, and completely eliminates
irritating
situations, when you begin to type with wrong engine. Just tap the key and
start typing.
Without this feature, using IBus is a pain for everybody who actively uses
more than
2 input methods. That's why I currently using SCIM, despite all its bugs.
I propose to place this setting to the "Input Method" tab of the "IBus
preferences"
dialog. Add one additional button: "Set shortcut" and show the shortcut set
near the
input method name.
By the way, this issue is accepted, but has Medium priority... Is it
possible to
estimate, when it will be implemented? If the expected time is long, maybe
I can try
to join?
