Thank you very much for the quick response.
I cleaned up the system, removed /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.6/ibus file and
reinstall
Ibus v1.1 (default version in Ubuntu 9.10) : it didn't help. In
desperation, I
reinstalled Ubuntu 9.10 Alternate, and installed Ibus v1.1. Now it works.
I thought there was a problem with Ibus v1.1 that came with Ubuntu Karmic. I
downloaded Ibus V1.2 and compiled from source. It didn't work. This step
left
some residual software, which causes Ibus to malfunction.
I really appreciate your contribution to Open Source software.
