It is already (partially) possible. Try:
- put your .mim file in ~/.m17n.d/
- remove IBus registry cache with "rm ~/.cache/ibus/bus/registry.xml"
- make sure the output from "/usr/libexec/ibus-engine-m17n --xml" includes
your mim
- restart IBus
To properly update the registry cache, observed-paths syntax could be
extended to accept "~/" or "$envvar" (see
/usr/share/ibus/component/m17n.xml).
