Probably I don't understand the problem.
If you use GTK+ client applications (e.g. gedit), please make sure
$IBUS_ENABLE_SYNC_MODE is unset.
Probably I think it might be good all $IBUS_* environments are unset.
If you use X11 client applications (e.g. xterm), the patch is needed:

This patch means the mode in case of unset IBUS_ENABLE_SYNC_MODE is copied
from GTK to X11 so the behavior will be same between gtk and x11 with this
patch.
So I think if you see a new problem, I think it could be seen in both gtk
and x11 applications.
I don't see any problems at present.
